Hello, I purchased the GTM for use when hunting primarily. Often we go very remote places and have no cell service. It is important to be able to know where and be able to communicate with the other people we hunt with. Tried it out today and it worked great.
I’m Topher, from Portland. I’m here to learn more about goTenna, what it is and how to use it. Why does it come in sets? How do I join the network — or am I already ‘in’ the network? Where do I go for answers?

My name is Oliver and discovered the mesh idea via home cable internet pods and saw some HAM radio videos that mentioned the Go Tenna product. I am interested in the user-created network, and the ability to take it with you as you travel. I think the applications are unlimited. I am trying to build up a relay network in my area of southeastern Massachusetts.
Cheers,
Oliver
Hello, I live in a suburban neighborhood in the Northern California Greater Bay Area. I am looking to support communications with my neighbors and local fire and police during PG&E Safety Power Shutoffs, Wildfire Events, Earthquakes and who knows what else.
I am looking for information on connecting to existing Alert systems when the cell and cable networks are down. Nixle alerts, Pulse Point notifications from local agencies, and CWS messages.
I am also looking for information on solar powered stationary relays and information about placing relays that would be fire resistant.
also of interest is lessons from community adoption, bulk purchases for community groups, how people have gotten adoption from local agencies for funding infrastructure placement and maintenance.
Looking forward to digging into your forums.

Good day; Antoine from Avanceé here. I started Avanceé a few years ago to reignite some experiments and consulting around design and enterprise strategy. Thought I’d take the hint of seeing GoTenna across a few hobby areas and jump into things. So far, enjoying what I’m discovering. Neat community here too.
Hoping to learn from everyone who’s posted/shared, and (in time) contribute also.
Would have been neat to know about this in a previous entrepreneurs endeavor; quite a few orgs I consulted with would have quickly jumped on this.
Hello Antoine,
Welcome to Mesh Community. Happy to hear you are enjoying it so far.

Naz
I am interested in secure, grid down communications, and secure communications across my county that doesn’t require a ham radio and license.
Tim from Ohio. Found GTM through a friend and was very interested in the concept of off-line communications in the event of a disaster. As a first responder the capabilities and concept of the GTM can be incredibly useful in natural disaster settings.
Hey Everyone,
I’m Del. I’m in the Fredericksburg, VA area. I’m definitely a noob at this and still trying to figure things out. For instance, is there a way to have the various nodes in my area saved onto my maps on the App so I won’t have to check the website? Just curious. I also welcome any tips. Thanks everyone.
Hi there,
Welcome to Mesh Community!
You can save nodes on your in app map, by dropping a pin. Keep in mind that location might not be exact, since nodes are self reported by goTenna Mesh users. It does not track any users in any way.
Thanks
Hi all,
I’m a side-line HAM operator, volunteer Scout leader, professional network admin, and FEMA certified for NIMS & ICS operations. I like to tinker with slim-line tech for EDC. I am interested in helping support a robust communications/data network for when people need it most. I was raised in a military family and know that efforts to always be ready and prepared pays dividends to self and to those around you. Very interested in the goTenna concept and the work developers and Daniela has done. Invested in a pair of units. Hope to one day buy into and test the Pro models as well to be ready to advise of their use in emergency management.
Thanks,
Al I.
didnt know this product or tech was has been available for a few years now-- so i jumped on it here in mar 2021 as soon as i discovered it-- not overly priced.
i picked up 2 of these for outdoor use & for back-up comms, locally with the immediate family, and hopefully for one day connecting with my neighbors and/or others in my community, in the event of an emergency. cant rely on cell phones or internet for short range comms, or even power, if there is a serious emergency – that is what prompted me to get this.
if this gotenna mesh system good, which it seems, i may get another 2 units to use as a loaner and as a powered stationary relay positioned high-up somewhere at home. preserving at least short range comms in an off-grid scenario is important. so i also ordered a beartooth competing-brand pair of units to see how that works. its got voice comms - in addition to messaging - and supposedly much better range but no mesh networking or delivery receipts like the gotenna.
worries me that gotenna doesnt appear to push much on this mesh product, but they appear to busy and remaining in substantial biz with lots of focus on more sophisticated users and customers, using other similar tech gotenna products, more so than regular consumers. so i doubt gotenna disappears, and they should be there to support this mesh consumer product.
others hopefully further build out, organically, by word of mouth, the community network potential for mesh. if not, small groups can definitely create their own powerful benefit from this. seems worth it, either way. i can prob at least get an eighth to a quarter mile of range for text comms in an obstructed area, with this mesh system. and potentially miles if others get on board, or if i create my own relays. justifies the purchase. my take and story and why think this mesh product - as well as other competitor products - are worth getting, even if gotenna has been very sleepy about promoting mesh of late.
ps- got mine for 155 dlrs out the door with an online discount code. worth it.

Just figuring this group out. Just got our first Gottena’s the other day and still playing with them. Mostly wanted them for some remote hunting trips and emergency use. Would love to seem how much these can do in the future.
Just received my goTenna Mesh devices and looking forward to seeing what they can do. Mainly going to use them as back up emergency comms but will be exploring what else they can do.
My first question is…how do you turn them off?
Thanks!
Jared here I’m 37, live in Provo Utah. GoTenna is literally a life saver in Utah’s west desert. It’s VERY remote Miles from anywhere. I’m so glad I found this product! It would be great to see Utah’s GoTenna’s community expand!
Jared here agian.
if anyone is in the Provo Utah area feel free to “shout” over to me.

Hi Snapper,
Welcome to the Mesh Community.
To turn your device off please long press power button located on the side of the device, just like you do to turn the device on.
Thanks,
