I was looking for a new GPS and come across the Garmin Monterra.

Too bad it was discontinued. It looks like the perfect rugged back-country solution for interfacing with the goTenna mesh.

I wonder if Garmin is thinking of developing a newer, higher spec’d version in the future, or perhaps a custom goTenna app can be developed for one of Garmin’s other Bluetooth enabled, touch screen GPS’s.

Maybe this would make a good off-grid phone for using the GoTenna. It looks nice and tough, waterproof, and a decent battery. The main problem with the Monterra is its running a very old version of android and has been discontinued.
